
boiling over the ocean like spilled ink, wind howling like a thousand starving mouths. Lightning cracked the sky in white veins. Rain lashed sideways, cold and stinging. The cliffs rose sharp and jagged from the coast, a sheer drop of two hundred feet to rocks and churning black water below. One wrong step, one push, and there was no coming back.
She arrived just as the first thunder rolled.
